Start with Action
Hook your readers immediately by starting in the middle of action or conflict. Avoid lengthy exposition in the opening.
Show, Don't Tell
Instead of saying "She was angry," show her clenching her fists or speaking through gritted teeth.
Use Sensory Details
Engage all five senses to make your story immersive. What does your scene smell, sound, and feel like?
Vary Sentence Length
Mix short, punchy sentences with longer, flowing ones to create rhythm and maintain reader interest.
