AI Story Generator
Give it one idea. Get back a complete short story you can read, pull apart and rewrite in your own voice.
Your story will appear here, set line by line. Nothing is written until you press the button.
How to get a story worth keeping
An AI model writes to the average of everything it has read. Your job is to pull it away from the average with specifics. Compare these two premises:
- Weak: "A girl discovers she has magic."
- Strong: "A royal food taster realises she can taste lies, the week before the king's wedding feast."
The second one already has a person, a pressure and a deadline, so the story has somewhere to go. If your idea is still vague, build it on the story ideas generator first, or start from a writing prompt.
Use the draft, don't submit it
Generated stories are best as scaffolding. Read it once, then ask: which image stuck? Which line would I cut? What would my version of this character do instead? Rewriting against a draft is often faster than facing a blank page, which is why many writers use a generator the way a painter uses a quick sketch.
Characters feeling thin? Run them through the character generator and the backstory generator, then paste the result into your premise.

Questions writers ask
Is the AI story generator free?
Yes. There is no account and no paywall. To keep it free for everyone there is a fair-use limit of 20 AI requests per 10 minutes per visitor.
Who owns the stories it writes?
Treat the draft as raw material. FictionForge claims no rights over what you generate or write. Copyright rules for AI-generated text differ by country; the US Copyright Office, for example, only protects the human-authored parts of a work, so the more you rewrite, the more of it is yours.
How long are the stories?
Choose short (about 350 words), medium (about 600) or long (about 900). That is flash-fiction length: long enough to test a premise, short enough to read in a few minutes.
Can I use it for school assignments?
Use it to brainstorm, study how scenes are built, or compare against your own draft. Check your school's AI policy before handing in anything generated.
Does it store my premise or story?
Your premise is sent to the AI model only to write the story and is not saved by FictionForge. Stories you choose to save go into a notebook kept in your own browser (localStorage), which you can clear at any time.
Why is my story generic?
Vague premises give vague stories. Name a specific person, a specific place, what they want and what is stopping them. The "Spark a premise" button builds one in that shape for you.
